Molly Mayhem! A Bite of Poisoned Apple Magazine!

I got the opportunity this weekend to chat with Molly Mayhem of Poisoned Apple Magazine! What a treat! She is the Editor in Chief, Photographer and Art Director for Poisoned Apple Magazine! She's insanely nice, and just a delight to work on this lil project for all you Dolls And Gents to get a Sparkle of  insight on the kinds of treats and goodies you can look forward to when you get your next Poisoned Apple Magazine!

What style of modeling will we see in future Poisoned Apple Magazine?

Pinup, fetish, alt and nude are the styles that are featured now, sometimes they bleed into each other though, one person will see a photo and call it pinup, another will call it fetish. I don't like playing by the rules, you should see the faces people make when I tell them my ideas! Ha Ha! We find a lot of inspiration in old mail order porn photos. I adore vintage sleaze!

What are your favorite topics for the Magazines articles? And what inspires you for them?

There is a guest photographer feature in each issue that will occasionally have a short Q and A, other than that the only articles are interviews. We are mainly a photography magazine.

In your opinion what is a woman’s best feature(s), and how do accentuate that quality in your photos?

I find this changes from woman to woman. I think a clever woman with a little bit of bravado is the most fun to work with and it will show in the photos!

I know it is hard to name just one, so give us a few of your favorite models in alternative modeling industry present-day?

The better known models I like right now are Dita Von Teese (of course!), Lauren WK, Mosh and Angela Ryan. I have been working with a lot of new models though, and some great up and coming ones. Speaking of up and coming models, (she asked me not to mention her but) Melanie Lacy is my current muse. She is also Co Editor of the magazine.

Today’s pin-up models appearances have changed, obviously with the time. What similarities and differences do you see between retro and modern pin-ups?

I think that the main similarity is the wide range of beauty, tall, short, slender, zaftig... you see them all. The main difference is the availability. With the overwhelming popularity of pinup, every woman has the opportunity to become one, even if just for a day and a photo on her fella's wall.

Do you think it matters if "pinups" don't live the pinup lifestyle every day?..

If you call yourself a pinup model I think it is important to respect the genre. Know who paved the road for you and pay your dues. You don't need a closet full of vintage dresses or a huge portfolio but you do need authenticity and self respect. There is nothing more transparent than a girl who calls herself a "pinup model" only to impress guys and satiate her need to be accepted. Be proud of who you really are.

How can your fans find you on the World Wide Web?

The website for the magazine is www.poisoned-apple.com and you can find us on Facebook under "Poisoned Apple Magazine" and Tumblr too!

I adore how all of thier photos are of  high Quality and seem really real, and Playful, like they're having a really good time! Makes me want to join Em'! And guess what you can! I noticed on Poisoned Apple's website that you can treat your self or a friend to a shoot with Poisoned Apples wonderful Photography Skills and Wardrobe!
Special Thanks to Mandie Molly Mayhem and Poisoned Apple Magazine! XoXo

Vans x Jesse Jo Holidays 2011

Vans x Jesse Jo returns with an expanded line for the holidays as the designer unveils a new approach to her designs; emphasizing feminine shapes while staying true to her tough, tomboyish style. The collection that pays homage to punk maven style includes a cut-out velvet dress, distressed denim vest and shorts, checkerboard leggings, cropped t-shirts, leopard prints and deconstructed accessories to match Jesse Jo’s signature look.  The look book is great- shot by the Mark the Cobrasnake and illustrated by Suzi Kemp – the photos, illustrations and Jesse Jo’s personality bring the collection to life.
